PILGRIM 2: (in a sweet voice) Come to me little turkey, come to me.
TURKEY: No! I know what you’re up to!
PILGRIM 3: We just want to play. Come on!
PILGRIM 4: Don’t be shy!
TURKEY: No! You want to cook me and put me on a plate!
PILGRIM 5: We don’t want to eat you!
TURKEY: Sure you do! I can see that hungry look on your face! Gobble, gobble, gobble!
(Turkey stops running and starts to sing to the tune of “I Will Survive”, by Gloria Gaynor)
At first, I was afraid
I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live
To see my little ones
But then I spent so many nights
Thinking how to run away
And I got strong
And learned how to try to escape
And now you lie
You tell me things
I just run fast and see you near with that mad look upon your face
And you promise not to eat me
Especially today
When you have a celebration
A great Thanksgiving Day!
Go on now go
Walk out the door
Just turn around now
Cause I don’t want you anymore
Weren’t you the one
Who tried to hurt me with your knife
You think I wouldn’t struggle
You think I lay down
And die
Oh no not I
I will survive!
Oh as long as I know
How to gobble
I know I’ll stay alive
I’ve got all my life to live
You’re not getting all my meat
I will survive
Till Christmas Day!
Hey Hey
(The turkey stops singing and walks proudly among the pilgrims).
PILGRIM 1: You look delicious!
PILGRIM 2: I’ll get him!
TURKEY: No! Leave me alone! Leave me alone!
(Pilgrim 2 chases the turkey. They run in slow motion. The pilgrim hits the turkey with the ax and the turkey falls down to the floor. All the pilgrims pick up the turkey and leave the stage)
ALL PILGRIMS: Happy Thanksgiving Day!
