A MOTHER’S DAY SURPRISE
Mother’s Day is a special occasion when we honor and appreciate the love, care, and sacrifice of our mother. In this play, A Mother’s Day Surprise, we follow a young girl named Sara who wants to make her mother’s day unforgettable. With the help of her family and a surprise visit from her aunt, Sara creates a series of heartwarming moments that celebrate the special bond between mother and child. MOM: Sara’s Mother

AUNT LUCY: Mom’s Sister
ACT 1
Scene 1
(Sara enters the stage carrying a tray of breakfast in bed. She knocks on her parent’s bedroom door)
SARA: (whispers) Mom, Dad, are you awake?
MOM: (from inside the room) Yes, Sara. Come in.
(Sara enters the room and places the tray on the bed)
SARA: Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!
MOM: (surprised) Oh, Sara! What a lovely surprise! Thank you so much!
DAD: (smiling) Good job, Sara. You’re such a thoughtful daughter.
Scene 2
(Mom and Dad are finishing their breakfast in bed)
MOM: (smiling) This is the best Mother’s Day breakfast I’ve ever had. Thank you, Sara.
DAD: (nodding) Yeah, you’re quite the chef. I think you have a future as a chef.
SARA: (laughing) Thanks, Dad. But I don’t think so. I just wanted to do something special for Mom.
MOM: (hugging Sara) And you did, honey. You made my day special.
Scene 3
(Aunt Lucy arrives at the house)
AUNT LUCY: Happy Mother’s Day, sis!
MOM: (surprised) Lucy! What are you doing here?
AUNT LUCY: I came to celebrate Mother’s Day with my favorite sister and niece.
SARA: (excited) Aunt Lucy, did you bring me a present?
AUNT LUCY: (laughs) Of course, I did, sweetie. I never come empty-handed.
ACT 2
Scene 1
(Mom, Aunt Lucy, and Sara are sitting in the living room)
MOM: (smiling) This is so nice. Spending Mother’s Day with my sister and daughter.
AUNT LUCY: (nodding) It is. And I have another surprise for you, sis.
MOM: (curious) What is it?
AUNT LUCY: (smiling) I’m taking you out for a spa day. Just the two of us.
MOM: (surprised) Really? That’s so thoughtful of you, Lucy.
SARA: (pouting) But what about me?
AUNT LUCY: (laughs) You’ll have to stay home with your dad, sweetie.
Scene 2
(Mom and Aunt Lucy are getting ready to go out)
SARA: (sad) I wish I could go with you guys.
MOM: (hugging Sara) We’ll be back soon, honey. And we’ll bring you a surprise.
AUNT LUCY: (winking) A big surprise!
Scene 3
(Mom and Aunt Lucy return home)
SARA: (excited) Mom, Aunt Lucy, you’re back!
MOM: (smiling) Yes, we are. And we have a surprise for you.
AUNT LUCY: (handing a box to Sara) Open it, sweetie.
(Sara opens the box and finds a photo album)
SARA: (surprised) It’s a photo album of our family!
MOM: (nodding) Yes, Aunt Lucy and I went through all our old photos and put together an album for you.
AUNT LUCY: (smiling) It’s a reminder of all the happy moments we’ve shared as a family.
Scene 4
(Sara looks through the photo album, laughing and reminiscing with her mom and Aunt Lucy)
SARA: (smiling) This is the best Mother’s Day ever. Thank you, Mom and Aunt Lucy.
MOM: (hugging Sara) No, thank you, sweetie. You made my day special from the very beginning.
AUNT LUCY: (nodding) And we couldn’t have asked for a better day spent with our favorite mother and daughter.
DAD: (entering the room) Hey, what’s going on in here?
SARA: (excited) Dad, you have to see this photo album! It’s amazing!
MOM: (laughing) And you missed out on a spa day.
DAD: (smiling) That’s okay. I had my own surprise planned.
Scene 5
(Dad hands a bouquet of flowers to Mom)
DAD: Happy Mother’s Day, my love.
MOM: (surprised) Oh, Jack! You didn’t have to do this.
DAD: (smiling) But I wanted to. You deserve to be spoiled on Mother’s Day.
SARA: (smiling) And we have one more surprise for you, Mom.
MOM: (curious) What is it?
SARA: (handing a handmade card to Mom) Open it and find out.
(Mom opens the card and reads it)
MOM: (teary-eyed) This is the sweetest card ever, Sara. Thank you so much.
SARA: (hugging Mom) I love you, Mom.
MOM: (hugging Sara back) I love you too, sweetie.
(Aunt Lucy, Dad, and Sara all gather around Mom for a group hug, smiling and laughing)
