SCRIPT:

(Casey and Lucy are sitting on a bench outside the mall)

CASEY:  I love all the beautiful clothes I bought!.

LUCY:  I spent a lot of money, and now I don’t know how I’m going to pay for my credit card!.

CASEY:  Don’t get so stressed out, OK?.

LUCY:  You’re right.  I’ll just be happy with everything I bought… the bank can wait!.  Or maybe I’ll just return it.

CASEY:  You can’t return your make up!.

LUCY:  Then I’ll ask my dad to lend me some money.

CASEY:  (looking at her watch) Let’s go.  I told my mom I would be home by seven.

(Lucy opens her purse to take out her car keys.  Se drops the key, and when she bends to pick them up she sees a purse under the bench)

LUCY:  Look what I found! (opens the purse, and takes out the wallet).  Today is my lucky day!.  This wallet is full of money…and there’s also an IPhone!..  Now I can pay off my debt!.  But…the purse is so ugly!.  Oh, well, never mind.

CASEY:  Dear, don’t say “I found a purse”, say “we found a purse” and “today is our lucky day”.  Remember we are on this together, and as best friends, we should share the good, the bad, and the ugly.  Don’t you think so?.

LUCY:  No!.  I found it, so I’m the one who’s keeping it… and all the money inside!.  I better go, before the owner comes back.

(Lucy stands and starts to walk rapidily. Casey remains seated.  The Police Officer and the Woman enter the stage, they start chasing Lucy)

WOMAN:  Officer, stop that woman!.  She has my purse!.

POLICE OFFICER: (To Lucy) Stop right there, your lady!.

LUCY:  (Stops walking.  To Casey) Oh, dear friend, we’re lost. They caught us with the purse!.

CASEY:  No, no!. Don’t say “we’re lost, and they caught us”.  Say “I’m lost and they caught me”!. You said the purse was yours.

POLICEMAN:  (To Lucy)  You’ll have to come with me to the police station.

LUCY:  I didn’t steal this purse!.  I swear it!.

POLICEMAN:  Don’t justify yourself.  Let’s go!.

LUCY: (To Casey)  Help me, you’re my best friend.  You were with me…I didn’t steal it, and you know it!.

CASEY:  I’m sorry Lucy.  Don’t share with me your bad luck… remember you didn’t want to share your good luck with me, either.

(The Policeman, the Woman, and Lucy leave the stage)

THE END
