SCRIPT:
Scene: A picturesque riverbank with the Crocodile napping.
(The Monkey, the Frog, and the Crocodile are by the river. The Crocodile is fast asleep.)
MONKEY: (with a growling stomach) Oh, I’m famished, and a craving for bananas is taking over me.
FROG: If you’re yearning for bananas, you’ll need to make your way to the other side of the river.
MONKEY: (curious) Why’s that?
FROG: (gesturing around) Take a look, my friend. There isn’t a banana in sight here.
MONKEY: But how do I cross the river?
FROG: It’s a piece of cake; just ask our slumbering friend, the Crocodile.
(The Crocodile wakes up)
CROCODILE: Who uttered my name?
FROG: (encouraging the Monkey) Go on, don’t be shy, tell him.
CROCODILE: What’s the matter?
MONKEY: Well, Mr. Crocodile, you see, I’m feeling ravenous and all I desire is some delicious bananas.
CROCODILE: So?
MONKEY: Can you give me a ride to the other side of the river?
CROCODILE: What? You’re aware that I’m perpetually drowsy. Seek someone else to transport you.
MONKEY: (begging) Please, Mr. Crocodile, please! I’m no swimmer, and I’m utterly clueless about staying afloat.
CROCODILE: Well, when you put it that way, it doesn’t sound like a terrible idea. Hop on my back.
(The Monkey climbs onto the Crocodile’s back, and the Crocodile begins the journey across the river.)
MONKEY: Thank you so much! Just wait here; I won’t be long. I’ll dash in and snatch the bananas.
CROCODILE: Take your time.
(The Monkey enjoys some bananas, then returns with one in hand.)
MONKEY: All set! Now, kindly take me back to the other side of the river. (The Crocodile starts heading in the opposite direction) Wait, Mr. Crocodile! Where are we going? This isn’t the way to my home.
CROCODILE: No, but it’s the way to my abode. You see, my wife is ill, and the doctor prescribed a monkey’s brain as a remedy.
MONKEY: (desperate) Oh, Mr. Crocodile, why didn’t you tell me earlier? I forgot my brain on the other side of the river. Let’s hurry and retrieve it before your wife’s condition worsens.
CROCODILE: Very well, let’s turn back.
(The Crocodile retraces its steps and reaches the other side of the river.)
MONKEY: (pointing excitedly) Look! Can you see it?
CROCODILE: See what?
MONKEY: (playfully) My brain! I left it hanging on that tree.
CROCODILE: (impatient) Hurry up, retrieve it!
MONKEY: Sure, wait right here. (He dismounts from the Crocodile’s back and dashes off, shouting) The day I’m brainless, I won’t be able to outsmart you.
CROCODILE: You tricked me! Come back, come back!
MONKEY: (mocking) Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
And so, The Clever Monkey and the Foolish Crocodile comes to an end with the Monkey’s laughter ringing through the forest. He escaped danger not with strength, but with cleverness and quick thinking.
