SCRIPT:

SCENE: A lush jungle, dominated by a single, massive tree.

(Sound of light birdsong and the deep, rhythmic snoring of the Lion. The mighty Lion is sprawled out, fast asleep. A tiny, cheerful Mouse scampers in, darting and playing across the stage.)

MOUSE: What a glorious day for a run! The sun is shining; the bugs are buzzing… what could be better?

(The Mouse, lost in play, accidentally runs right over the Lion’s enormous, twitching paw. The LION’s snoring stops abruptly. His eyes snap open.)

LION: ROOOOAR! Who dares to disturb my royal slumber?!

(The Mouse freezes, trembling)

MOUSE: (Squeaking, terrified) Oh, mighty Lion! My deepest apologies! I-I didn’t see you there, I swear!

LION: A mouse! A pathetic speck of dust dares to walk on me? I should crush you into the dirt right now!

MOUSE: (Bowing his head) Please, I beg of you! Let me go! A good deed is never wasted. One day, I might be able to repay your kindness!

(The Lion throws his head back and lets out a booming, contemptuous laugh.)

LION: Hahahaha! You?! A tiny, insignificant thing like you helping me?! That’s the funniest thing I’ve ever heard! But… I’m feeling generous today. Run along, little creature. I have no use for a snack so small.

(The Mouse bows again and scurries away as the Lion settles back down to nap.)

NARRATOR: The Lion let the Mouse go, completely forgetting the little creature’s promise. But a few days later, the king of the jungle learned that a great size doesn’t always guarantee a great life.

(The Lion struts across the stage, chest puffed out. Suddenly, from offstage, the whispering voices of the Hunters are heard. A massive net, camouflaged by leaves, suddenly drops from above and ensnares the Lion completely. He thrashes in a panic.)

LION: ROAR! Help! I’m trapped! Somebody, anyone!

(The Lion struggles, but the ropes only tighten. He lets out a desperate, pained roar.)

LION: This can’t be! I am the king! No one can help me now…

(Sound of tiny, fast pitter-pattering. The Mouse appears, looking determined.)

MOUSE: Don’t despair, my friend! I heard your roar! You showed me kindness, and now I will show you loyalty!

(the Mouse starts gnawing at one of the thickest ropes with his sharp teeth.)

LION: (Whispering in awe) You… you are actually doing it!

(After a few moments, the rope snaps with a loud TWANG! and the net goes slack. The Lion quickly pushes his way out, free at last.)

LION: (Humbly) Little Mouse, you saved my life. I was wrong to mock you. I never believed a creature so small could do something so great.

MOUSE: (Smiling proudly) The size of a heart, not the size of a body, is what truly matters.

NARRATOR: From that day forward, the mighty Lion and the tiny Mouse became the best of friends, proving that kindness and friendship are stronger than pride. The jungle never forgot the day a tiny mouse saved the king of beasts.
