THE SECRET OF THE LAGOON
Characters:
GLIM – The aquatic creature, kind, lonely, and insecure.
LILY – A curious and brave girl.
TOMMY – Lily’s little brother, adventurous and energetic.
MIA – A shy but clever girl.
JAKE – Mia’s cousin, cautious and thoughtful.
SARAH – A confident and friendly girl.
MAX – Sarah’s twin brother, funny and a bit clumsy.
PROFESSOR GRAHAM – A Marine biologist and mentor to the kids.
SCRIPT:
(The scene opens at the edge of a mysterious lagoon. The kids — Lily, Tommy, Mia, Jake, Sarah, and Max — stand in awe, looking at the shimmering water. Professor Graham is busy examining the water with his tools.)
LILY: (Excited) Wow! This place is incredible!
TOMMY: (Bouncing with energy) I heard there’s a monster that lives here!
MIA: (Nervously) A m-m-monster?
JAKE: (Thoughtfully) I don’t think it’s a monster. Professor Graham, what do you think?
PROFESSOR GRAHAM: (Smiling) We don’t call it a monster, Jake. There’s a creature in this lagoon, but it’s more afraid of us than we are of it.
SARAH: (Confidently) Then let’s find it! Maybe it needs a friend.
MAX: (Clumsily tripping) A friend? What if it wants us for dinner?
(Everyone laughs. Suddenly, the water ripples. The kids gasp as the head of an aquatic creature, Glim, appears, watching them curiously.)
GLIM: (Nervously) Hello… please don’t be afraid.
LILY: (Stepping forward) We’re not afraid. I’m Lily. Who are you?
GLIM: (Shyly) I’m Glim. I… I live here… alone.
MIA: (Softly) Alone? Don’t you have any friends?
GLIM: (Sadly) No… Everyone is scared of me because I look different. I’ve tried to make friends, but they run away.
TOMMY: (With determination) We won’t run away!
(The kids agree, nodding eagerly. Glim smiles for the first time, a small, hopeful smile. The group gathers around Glim, who seems more relaxed now.)
GLIM: (Hesitant) Actually… I need help. There’s something wrong with the lagoon. It’s getting darker and colder, and my home is changing.
JAKE: (Concerned) Maybe pollution or something is blocking the sun.
PROFESSOR GRAHAM: (Nods) That could be it. We need to investigate.
SARAH: (Confidently) Let’s form teams. Max and I will check the water for pollution.
MAX: (Saluting comically) Aye, aye, Captain!
MIA: Lily and I can search the shore for clues.
TOMMY: (Excited) And I’ll go with Glim and Professor Graham!
(Everyone agrees and splits into groups, determined to help Glim. (Back at the lagoon’s center, the teams regroup with their findings.)
LILY: (Holding a piece of plastic) Look what we found — trash everywhere along the shore.
SARAH: (Holding a bottle with murky water) The water has some strange chemicals.
PROFESSOR GRAHAM: (Examining the bottle) This isn’t good. It’s no wonder the lagoon is suffering.
GLIM: (Worried) Can we fix it?
JAKE: (Encouragingly) Of course, we can! We just need a plan.
(The kids and Glim work together to clean the lagoon. They pick up trash, remove debris, and plant new aquatic plants.)
MIA: (Smiling) It’s starting to look better already!
TOMMY: (To Glim) See? You’re not alone. We’re your friends now.
GLIM: (Beaming) Thank you… I’ve never had friends like you before.
(As the sun begins to set, the kids start packing up their things.)
PROFESSOR GRAHAM: (Looking at the sky) It’s getting late. We should head back.
LILY: (Nodding) We’ll come back soon, Glim. We promise.
JAKE: (Gently) And remember, you’re not alone anymore.
SARAH: (Smiling warmly) We’ll see you soon, friend!
GLIM: (Waving his webbed hand) Goodbye, my friends! Thank you for everything. I’ll be here, waiting for your return!
MAX: (Grinning) Next time, we’ll bring some stories and maybe a picnic!
(The kids laugh as they wave goodbye, walking away from the lagoon. Glim watches them leave, his heart filled with joy and hope.)
