SCRIPT:

Setting:

A simple stage area in the classroom. The backdrop can be decorated with a sign that says, “The Great Animal Talent Show!” with drawings of trees and jungle scenery.

(Mr. Owl stands in the center of the stage with a microphone.)

OWL: (Cheerfully) Welcome to the Great Animal Talent Show! Today, we have some fantastic performers who have prepared their special talents just for you! Let’s give a big round of applause to all the brave contestants!

(Audience Animals clap and cheer.)

OWL: Our first contestant is Lenny the Lion! He may be king of the jungle, but he’s a little shy. Let’s give him a big, warm welcome!

(Lenny the Lion nervously steps forward, holding a small microphone.)

LENNY THE LION: (Quietly) Hi, everyone… I’m Lenny, and I’ll sing a song for you. (Clears throat, then sings off-key) “Roar, roar, roar… I’m a lion in the jungle, but I don’t like to bungle…”

(The audience giggles. Lenny looks nervous.)

LENNY THE LION: (Blushing) Uh, thank you… (Runs off stage.)

OWL: (Encouragingly) That was wonderful, Lenny! You have the heart of a singer. Let’s hear it for Lenny the Lion!

(Audience Animals clap.)

OWL: Next up, we have Polly the Parrot! She’s colorful, chatty, and has a knack for telling jokes!

(Polly the Parrot flies to the center of the stage, flapping her wings.)

POLLY THE PARROT: (Excitedly) Hello, everybody! Are you ready to laugh? Why did the banana go to the doctor?

(Audience Animals shout, “Why?”)

POLLY THE PARROT: Because it wasn’t peeling well! (Laughs loudly, repeating) Get it? Peeling well!

(Audience Animals laugh and clap.)

POLLY THE PARROT: (Winks) Thank you, thank you! I’ll be here all week! (Flies off stage.)

OWL: Thank you, Polly! Now, give it up for Benny the Bunny, who will dazzle us with magical tricks!

(Benny the Bunny hops in with a magician’s hat and wand.)

BENNY THE BUNNY: (Waving wand) Abracadabra, watch me make this carrot disappear!

(He covers the carrot with a handkerchief, waves the wand, and pulls away the handkerchief. The carrot is gone! Audience Animals gasp in surprise.)

BENNY THE BUNNY: Ta-da! And now, I’ll make it reappear… behind your ear, Mr. Owl!

(He pretends to pull a carrot from behind Mr. Owl’s ear.)

OWL: (Amused) Well that’s quite the trick, Benny! Let’s hear it for Benny the Bunny!

(Audience Animals cheer.)

OWL: Last but not least, we have Sally the Squirrel, who will show us some of her best dance moves!

(Sally the Squirrel bounces onto the stage with a boombox. She presses play, and fun music starts. Sally twirls, jumps, and does a silly dance, ending with a big spin.)

SALLY THE SQUIRREL: (Breathlessly) Thank you, thank you! I call that the Nutty Twist!

(Audience Animals laugh and clap.)

OWL: Now, it’s time for our judge, Judge Kangaroo, to announce the winner!

(Judge Kangaroo hops onto the stage.)

JUDGE KANGAROO: (Smiling) You were all amazing, and it’s so hard to pick a winner. But I think today, the prize goes to… everyone! Because you all tried your best and made us laugh and smile!

(Audience Animals cheer and clap loudly.)

OWL: That’s right! Everyone is a winner today. Thank you all for coming to the Great Animal Talent Show! See you next time!
