Welcome to a timeless tale of dreams, destiny, and redemption. In a place where nature’s wisdom intertwines with the human heart, three trees on a serene hill yearn for their unique destinies. As the winds of fate sweep over them, join us on a journey of hope, transformation, and the enduring power of faith.

CHARACTERS:

TREE 1 – A dreamer with hopes of becoming a treasure chest.

TREE 2 – Aspires to be a majestic ship on the high seas.

TREE 3 – Desires to stay on the hill and point to God.

WOODCUTTER 1, 2, and 3 – Men with axes.

CARPENTER – The skilled craftsman.

MAN – A humble figure.

WOMAN – A mother with a newborn child.

JESUS – The Savior.

TWELVE MEN – Followers of Jesus.

CROWD – The masses.

GUARDS – The enforcers of the law.

SCRIPT:

SCENE I

(On a serene hill, Trees 1, 2, and 3 stand tall and strong.)

TREE 1: (Gazing at the sky) What a beautiful day, don’t you think?

TREE 2: Indeed, the sky’s so clear, and the sun’s warmth is comforting.

TREE 3: You sound wistful. What’s on your mind?

TREE 2: We’re mature now. The woodcutters will come soon.

TREE 1: You’re right. (Looking to the sky) I wish they’d turn me into a treasure chest, filled with gold, silver, and precious stones. It’d be the world’s most magnificent treasure chest!

TREE 3: Everyone would admire you!

TREE 2: I want to sail the roaring oceans, escorting kings and queens to safety!

TREE 1: No doubt, you’d be the greatest ship ever. What about you?

TREE 3: I adore this hill; I want to stay, grow, and be the tallest tree. But more than that, I want people to look at me, touch the heavens, and think of God, remembering me always.

(Woodcutters 1, 2, and 3 enter carrying axes. Woodcutter 1 inspects Tree 1.)

WOODCUTTER 1: This one looks strong and beautiful. The carpenter will make something special out of it.

(He starts cutting the tree.)

TREE 1: (Joyful) Did you hear that? I’m ecstatic!

TREE 2: Your dream will come true, a splendid treasure chest you shall be!

(Woodcutter 1 and Tree 1 exit. Woodcutter 2 inspects Tree 2.)

WOODCUTTER 2: This tree looks sturdy, perfect for me. The carpenter will do wonders with it.

(He starts cutting the tree.)

TREE 2: Yes! I’ll be a mighty ship for kings and queens. I’ll sail vast waters, an illustrious vessel!

(Woodcutter 2 and Tree 2 exit. Woodcutter 3 examines Tree 3.)

TREE 3: (Desperate) Please, no! I don’t want to be cut. My dream will vanish!

WOODCUTTER 3: (Indifferent) This tree’s fine. I don’t care; I just want the carpenter’s money.

(He cuts the tree.)

TREE 3: (Despairing) My dream…

(Woodcutter 3 and Tree 3 exit.)

SCENE II

(In the carpenter’s shop, Trees 1, 2, and 3, and Woodcutters 1, 2, and 3 are present.)

WOODCUTTER 1: (To Carpenter) I want a feed box for animals from this tree.

TREE 1: (Disappointed) That’s not what I wanted! I won’t be filled with gold and jewels.

WOODCUTTER 2: (To Carpenter) I’d like a small fishing boat from this tree.

TREE 2: (Regretful) No! I wanted to be a powerful ship, not a small boat!

CARPENTER: (Curious) What about your tree?

WOODCUTTER 3: (Dismissive) Nothing, just give me my money.

CARPENTER: As you wish, I’ll store the wood. If you change your mind, it’s here.

(Woodcutter 3 exits.)

TREE 3: All I wanted was to stay on this hill and point to God.

SCENE III

(In the center of the stage, a feed box for animals is placed. A Man and a Woman with a newborn child enter.)

MAN: I wish we had a cradle, but this manger will do.

WOMAN: This manger is beautiful!

TREE 1: I hold the greatest treasure—the King of Kings. My wish came true!

(The Man and Woman gaze at the baby.)

SCENE IV

(On a boat in the middle of the stage, Thirteen Men embark. Jesus, one of them, falls asleep. The storm brews.)

TREE 2: (Worried) I can’t endure this storm. If only I were a mighty vessel! I can’t take them safely across the lake.

TWELVE MEN: (Panicking) Jesus, help us! We’ll perish!

(Jesus awakens, and stretches his arms.)

JESUS: (Calmly) Peace, be still!

(The storm ceases.)

TREE 2: I carry the King of Heaven and Earth! My dream came true!

(They exit.)

SCENE V

(There’s a wooden cross in the center. Jesus, the Guards, and the Crowd enter. Jesus carries the cross.)

CROWD: (Demanding) Crucify him!

(Jesus stops, and the Guards take the cross and nail Jesus to it.)

TREE 3: (Understanding) I’m strong enough to bear the Son of God. This is better than being the tallest tree. People will always remember me and think of God!

NARRATOR (V.O.): And so, the dreams of these sacred trees found their purpose in unexpected ways. From the humble feed box cradling a newborn King to the steadfast vessel that carried the Savior through the storm, and finally, the cross that bore the weight of salvation. As we depart from this sacred tale, may we carry with us the profound truth that even in the face of unexpected turns, our dreams, like these trees on the hill, can become vessels of grace, signs of hope, and symbols of everlasting love.
