ALICE’S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND: A PLAY

Welcome to our adaptation of “Alice in Wonderland“, a fantastical tale of a young girl’s journey through a magical world. Join us as we follow Alice on her adventures through Wonderland, encountering curious creatures, bizarre landscapes, and unforgettable characters.

CHARACTERS:

ALICE

WHITE RABBIT

DODO

MAD HATTER

QUEEN OF HEARTS

CHESHIRE CAT

ACT I

Scene 1: Alice’s Garden

(Alice is sitting in her garden, reading a book. She gets bored and starts to daydream)

ALICE: (sighing) I wish I could have an adventure. (Suddenly, she sees a white rabbit running by) Oh, a rabbit! That’s odd. It’s wearing a waistcoat and carrying a pocket watch. (She runs after the rabbit, and falls down a rabbit hole)

Scene 2: The Rabbit Hole

(Alice finds herself falling through the rabbit hole. She lands in a room with doors on all sides)

ALICE: (confused) Which door should I go through? (She sees a bottle labeled “Drink Me” and a cake labeled “Eat Me”) I suppose I should follow the directions. (She drinks the potion and grows very small)

Scene 3: The Pool of Tears

(Alice starts to cry, and her tears form a pool)

ALICE: (frustrated) I can’t seem to do anything right. (The White Rabbit appears)

WHITE RABBIT: Oh dear, oh dear, I’m late!

ALICE: Excuse me, sir, can you help me?

WHITE RABBIT: No time, no time! (He disappears)

Scene 4: The Caucus Race

(Alice meets a group of animals, including a Dodo, a Mouse, and a Duck)

DODO: Welcome to the Caucus Race!

ALICE: What’s a Caucus Race?

DODO: We run in a circle until we’re dry.

ALICE: (confused) That doesn’t make any sense.

(They start running in a circle)

Scene 5: The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party

(Alice arrives at the Mad Hatter’s tea party, where she meets the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, and the Dormouse.)

MAD HATTER: Would you like some tea?

ALICE: Yes, please.

MAD HATTER: We’re all mad here, you know.

ALICE: (amused) That’s quite all right. I’m a little mad myself.

Scene 6: The Queen’s Court

(Alice is brought before the Queen of Hearts, who is playing croquet)

QUEEN OF HEARTS: Off with her head!

ALICE: (defiant) No, you can’t do that!

CHESHIRE CAT: (appearing) Why not?

ALICE: Because I haven’t done anything wrong!

(They argue back and forth until Alice wakes up)

ACT II

Scene 1: Alice’s Garden

(Alice wakes up and realizes it was all a dream)

ALICE: (smiling) What a strange dream. I suppose I’ll never know what it all meant.

(Scene ends with Alice walking offstage)

And so, Alice’s journey through Wonderland comes to an end. Though she may return to her mundane life in the real world, she will always cherish the memories of her time in Wonderland and the friends she made there.
