MONKEY:  Aren’t you supposed to say good news and bad news?.

FOX:  No.  I have good news and good news.

RABBIT:  Then just say good news.

FOX:  It’s because I have two good news.

DEER:  Stop talking and just tell us the good news!.

FOX:  Fine, but you don’t have to yell at me!.

RACCOON:  Please, tell us the good news!.

FOX:  I heard the lion was very sick.

MONKEY:  Who told you that?.

FOX:  Toucan told me.

RABBIT:  How sick is he?.

FOX:  Very sick!.

DEER:  Is he going to die?.

FOX:  Yes!.

RACCOON:  Well, that’s good news!.

MONKEY, RABBIT, DEER, RACOON:  Yessss!.

MONKEY:  At last there will be peace in the jungle.

RABBIT:  We will be able to wander through the forest without being afraid of dying.

DEER:  I’m very happy!.

RACCOON:  We are free!.

MONKEY, RABBIT, DEER, RACOON:  Yessss!.

MONKEY:  What other good news do you have?.

FOX:  The toucan told me the lion wants to see us one more time before he dies.

MONKEY:  What for?

FOX: Because he was really sorry for the way he treated us, so he decided to include us in his last Will and Testament.

RABBIT:  So, he’s going to leave us something of value?.

FOX:  Yes.

DEER:  What could he give us?.

RACCOON:  We don’t know because his treasure is hidden in his cave.

FOX:  We have to talk to him and say good-bye.

MONKEY:  Let’s go now!.

FOX: The toucan told me he wants to speak to us alone, so we’re going together but we’ll wait outside the cave.

RABBIT: I agree.

DEER: Let’s go then!.

(They leave the stage)

ACT 2 – AT THE CAVE

(The animals are outside the cave.  The Toucan comes out of the cave)

TOUCAN:  Are you ready to go in?

MONKEY, RABBIT, DEER, RACCOON, FOX:  Yessss!.

TOUCAN:  Who will go in first?.

MONKEY:  Me!.  I want to know what the lion is going to give me.

DEER:  Don’t take too long.  I’m desperate to go in.

TOUCAN:   He will take only a few minutes with each one of you, so don’t worry.

MONKEY:  I like that!.

TOUCAN:  All of you will go in through the mouth of the cave, but you will have to go out through an opening on the back of the cave.  Just wait a few minutes, then the next one may come in.  Did you understand?.

MONKEY, RABBIT, DEER, RACCOON, FOX:  Yesss!.

MONKEY:  I’ll see you later my friends!.

MONKEY, RABBIT, DEER, RACCOON, FOX:  Good luck!.

(The Monkey enters the Lion’s cave.  The rest of the animals sit on the floor and wait a few minutes)

RABBIT:  How long should we have to wait?

TOUCAN:  The next one may come in.

FOX:  That was fast, don’t you think so?.

TOUCAN:  Remember that the Lion is dying.  He can hardly speak.

FOX:  You’re right.

RABBIT:  (stands up)  It’s my turn.  See you later, my friends!.

DEER, RACCOON, FOX:  Good luck!.

(The Rabbit enters the Lion’s cave. The Deer, the Raccoon, and the Fox wait a few minutes)

DEER:  I wonder what will the Rabbit get?.

FOX:  We will find out later.

TOUCAN:  The next one may come in.

DEER:  (stands up) My dear friends, I’ll let you know later what the Lion left me in his Will.  Good-bye!.

RACCOON AND FOX:  Good-luck!.

(The Deer enters the Lion’s cave.  The Raccoon and the Fox wait a few minutes)

FOX:  All this is very strange.

RACCOON:  What?.

FOX:  I didn’t know the cave had a back opening.

RACCOON:  Don’t you trust the lion?.

FOX:  No.

RACCOON:  Everybody change when they are about  to die.  The Lion is very sorry for what he did to us, just remember that.  Don’t judge him anymore!.

TOUCAN:  The Raccoon is right.  He wants to give each one of you what you deserve before he leaves this world.

FOX:  Mmmm, I don’t know.  There’s something that’s not quite right.

TOUCAN:  Which one of you two is next?.

RACOON:  Me.  I’m dying to go in!.

FOX:  Good luck…I think you’ll need it.

RACCOON:  See you later.

FOX: Good-bye!.

(The Raccoon enters the cave)

TOUCAN:  Your friends must be really happy on the other side of the….jungle.

FOX:  I hope so.

TOUCAN: You may come in, Fox.

FOX:  On second thoughts, I don’t want to see the lion right now.  I prefer to remember him as a strong and a healthy lion.

TOUCAN:  Go and see him, you won’t regret it.

(The Lion gets out of the cave and sees the Fox)

LION:  Come in, my friend.  I have something very important to tell you.

FOX: I prefer to come some other day.  You had a lot of visitors and you must be exhausted.

LION:  No, I don’t have much time left.  It has to be now!.

FOX:  I’m really sorry.  Don’t give me anything…or better yet…give it to the Toucan.  I’m tired of waiting.  I have to go now.

LION:  I’m ordering you to come in!.

FOX:  I can’t.  Bye!.

(The Fox runs offstage.  The Lion chases the Fox but falls down)

LION:  I ate so much that I can’t run!.  I’m full of monkey’s, rabbit’s, deer’s, and raccoon’s meat.

TOUCAN:  (approaches the Lion)  Rest Mr. Lion, the fox can’t go anywhere.

LION:  That’s for sure.  It will be some other time!.
